Pros:

1. improvement of economic performance and wealth due to division of work–>better possibilities for countries to sell their products

(Lugert;http://www.globalisierung-infos.de/vorteile.html):
“Länder und Regionen haben jetzt bessere Möglichkeiten, ihre Produkte abzusetzen und die Entwicklung der Wirtschaft zu fördern. Dies mehrt den gesellschaftlichen Wohlstand.”

2. especially in Germany: possibility to have fresh fruits every day; purchase of cheap goods produced in China; coffee and tea–>without globalization products would be much more expensive or not even be achieveable

3. possibility to travel through the whole world and communicate with other countries

(Lugert; http://www.globalisierung-infos.de/pro-glob.html): “Es gibt Kommunikationsmöglichkeiten mit der ganzen Welt.”

4. increase in offer of work

5. increase in offer of goods–>reduction of prices

6. increase in demand on goods

7. companies have possibility to sell their products worldwide

8. the developing world profits from it due to their offer of cheap labor

9. possibility to become a rhich member of society

Cons:

1. big difference among the wages of workers in different countries–>competition

2. displacement of companies due to cheaper working conditions in the eastern countries

3. people less well educated than other workers have difficulties in being employed

4. companies are confronted with either changing their manufacturing base or dropping production–>producing in foreign countries

5. danger for the environment: industrial facilities pollute the it

6. higher costs on social systems and social problems

7. many jobs have no future perspective

8. exploitation of cheap workers in the developing world due to their independence on the companies

9. limiting of rights concerning the trade to foreign countries disadvantages people living in the developing world

My own opinion:

I think it is really hard to make a decision concerning the question whether globalization is good and we benefit from it or whether it is rather bad for us and is accompanied by a lot of disadvantages because there are both many positive and many negative aspects which have to be considered talking about the effects of the progressing globalization.

When I dealt with this subject the first time, I rather agreed with the supporters of globalization actions because me, not knowing much about the term globalization and its effects on the environment and the developing world, for example, I was convinced that our commercial market would mostly draw benefits by communicating with a lot of other countries, giving aid to the developing world and offering more jobs to people. And although I do not completely support the progresses in globalization development, I still consider these facts to be real benefits for our world and its trade market. In addition to them, the globalization enables companies to be present in world trade business and to betterly sell their products.

But anyway, I personally think that the progressing globalization will, on the average, not be a benefit for our world because the more companies improve their products the more competition will exist on the market and this could have terrible consequences on balance. The companies have already got used to disregard the effects of their productions- they do not take care of the developing world, the people living there and their working and life conditions- the companies principal idea is: Having cheap workers and earn much money which the employers keep for own and privat aims, for sure.

I think that this development will lead too further exploitation of poor workers and the geer of the company-owners will get too strong.

I also believe that the already existing problems on unfair working and living conditions between rhich and poor will get worse due to the people’s geer I just mentionned.

And looking at the argument concerning the prilvilege of receiving fresh fruit every week because of trading among several countries people should start wondering whether the fruit coming from Italy or New Zealand, for example, is fresher than the fruit “lying in front of their door”. Thinking of the environmental pollution caused by the lobby transports over long distances, the disadvantage is even more clarified.

All in all, I have the impression that the progressing globalization is not such a good development as many people and especially company owners believe or pretend to believe.
