The answer is quite evident: It’s the people living in this world who are to be blamed for the different weather, nowadays. For sure, I cannot exclude myself from the “climate change- causers” because I, as well as other people, like my mother, the American President  or simply you, live in this world. Due to the huge CO2 emission, which is increased each year by “pumping” further carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the air, the earth gets warmer and temperatures keep rising year by year. As a consequence, the polar caps melt and besides the increase of humidity, the water masses on our earth keep spreading.

And it is not only the global warming which threatens the existence of our human society. The vegetation and nature in general also changes due to the different climate. This makes the oxygen content in the air depart from its usual mass, for example.

I fear that one day, humans will be eliminated from this earth if there are not taken any counteractions in order to prevent further climatic changes. Mankind has to accept that it  is not able to take hold against the power of nature and that it is absolutely neccessary to start protecting it instead of further destructing what is offered to us as our ”living space”.

In order to give you an idea of what it will be about we just present our structure:

We have a certain idea about what our structure will be like and have shared the single subitems so that each of us knows what she is supposed to write about and which information she has to work with.

Next week, we will have hopefully finished writing our texts and talk at each other in order to prepare the rest of our presentation.

The German Emporer Wilhelm II. initiated its constuction in order to prevent Belgium of colonial expanding and wanted to higher the presence of colonial rulers by the ship navigating on the “Tanganjika- lake”, located in a colonial area, Thansania to be more exact, in the east of Africa.

The ship, composed of a huge number of rivets and other material was fractionalised into its components and, passing Hamburg and Daressalam, transported to Kigoma, at least by train. There the ship was recomposed again. On 5th February 1915, the “Liemba” was launched into the “Tanganjika- lake” where it is currently still transporting both freights and passengers.

The importance of this passenger ship is pointed out by its numerous usage, e.g. in WW I and WW II where it was used to tranport soldiers, and several, in the end successful attempts to raise/lift (?) the ship which had sunk more than once.

Up to date, the ship has not lost its importance but rahter gained in it and whereas it was subject to the strict conditions invented by the British until Tansania’s independence, it is “controlled” by native ship’s complement, nowadays.

The interior consists of twelve first class- passenger cabins and 29 ones for second class passengers. Furthermore there is a cargo bay offering space for 200 tons of freight.

- Indians amount a percentage of 1,8% of the population in Great Britain and are, therefore, the biggest group of immigrants out of one country. Although they form a minority group there are religious differences in between the Indian people. Due to several reasons, focusing mainly on economical problems  (poverty; unemployment; wish to have higher living standards) and political persecution, the Indian people emigrated to the United Kingdom.

Pakistanis:

 Accompanying sailors, they came to the United Kingdom where they were looking for money to nourish their families. Although most Pakistanis wanted to return to their country many of them stayed in Great Britain.

Loads of them follow the Islamic faith.

Bangladeshi:

The most significant reasons prompting the Bangladeshi to emigrate their country were the civil war and  the separation of Bangladesh of Pakistan as well as the search for work and the hope for higher living-standards.

Loads, or to be more  exact, most of these immigrants also believe in the religious ideas of the Islam.

Right at the beginning of progressing developments concerning the Congo’s independence, the Belgians definitely wanted a chaotic situation in the country due to the aim of the colonial minister “De Schrijver” to be called for help by the people.

Later, election results and a declined acceptance of   Africans into the officers caused interior conflicts which was just the beginning of confusion, enmity and mutiny in the Congo, even among the civilists.

The disturbance and job offers in other countries made the Belgians flee which lead to a breakdown of the civil administration.

On June, 29th,  1960, Katanga, a region totally important to the Congo due to its resources, is declared independent.

One fact mentionned in the text focuses on the economical growth: Due to economical colonialism the Congo annually had an economical increase of ten percent for already 10/15 years.

Africa in general:

Colonialism is one of the terms which many African people consider to be a reason for the incredibly bad condition the country and its population are in. And the majority of Africans blames the white people for having caused this misery.

The African population obviously is in fear of another period of colonialism of which the possibilty seems to be probable as it is expressed on page 14 of “Africa’s oath”:”Others aim at supporting Africa in a manner which suspiciously looks like a new way of colonisation.”

The text also says that the conditons of “reintegration into a normal life” after the decolonisation of most African countries were definitely much better than they were in Asia some years earlier.

Besides all this, some paragraphs in the text include criticism concerning the behaviour of the most African people who apparently still think that “others have to take care of their development but not they themselves”

Independence:

The text, on the one hand, says that the “white man” is withdrawing wheras it expresses on the other hand, that the African population, and in this case, you can even concentrate on the Congo itself, obviously has not comprehended what “indepence” means.

King Lepold 2nd regarded the Congo to be his personal empire.

The revolutionary “Che Guevara” said: “The Africans rather liked to roam in bars than to learn the “business of revolution”.” He also depicts that, right after it had become independent, the Kongo was envellopped in a civil war. Guevara said this development “set an end to the illusion of the first “wave of independence”.”

On the wikipedia-homepage, the information of how the Kongo became independent is more detailed: Both the unrests in Africa and the offering of jobs in Belgium caused a migration of the Belgians, the owners of the colonie Kongo, of which resulted the end of administration.

Remarkable statesmen:

Definetly worth mentionning seems the revolutionary “Che Guevara” who tried to show the African people living in the Congo how to become independent and how to handle with this privilege of independence although he was not really successful at least.

Another remarkable statesmen represents Kwame Nkrumah who was the head of state of Ghana: His intention was to unify the whole of Africa and to become as powerful as the USA or the Sowjet- Union which obviously required a suitable leader: himself!

Development:

After many years of colonialism, the Congo became independent. But this did not mean freedom and real “independence” for the population of the country because right after the decolonisation, there were was one civil war after the next and the African people living in this region apparently have not understood yet what the term “independence” actually means and many foreign people and former supporters of the African state, or rather the people who aimed at improving Africa’s situation, are angry about its population because the people there seemingly do not really want to change the misery they are in, by themselves: they expect others to do this.

And the text also says that the Africans are afraid that the white men take over much power- it seems as if the African people want to express: “This is our country and we want to keep it!”

Concerning the development you could also mention that the production of provisons is permanently decreasing and that worldwide trade somehow passes Africa as if it was not there because other countries do not profit from “trade” with Africa.

Situation today:

There are still a lot of conflicts, today. But the republic is supported by other countries, especially the ones belonging to the European Union. The co-operation among the countries does not only consist of financial supportment but also of political “discussions”, economial ideas and security.
